Chesterfield General District Court

Representation by a Knowledgeable Chesterfield County Criminal Defense Attorney

While Chesterfield County is known to have the lowest crime rate within the Richmond Metropolitan region, residents of the county are still not immune to being the targets of criminal allegations that can greatly damage their lives. When local residents do experience these types of charges, they are sometimes sent to the Chesterfield General District Court for their hearings and trials.

Prosecutors and other representatives of this court—or of any criminal court in the state of Virginia—are aggressive opponents who are usually looking to prove defendants' guilt and stick them with tough penalties. For this reasons, it is crucial for individuals dealing with cases in these courts to hire a capable criminal defense attorney, whether these individuals are facing traffic tickets or criminal charges. Vaughan C. Jones, Attorney at Law is a seasoned Chesterfield County criminal defense lawyer who is able to provide thorough and competitive legal representation to his clients. He is able to provide defense for a variety of case types in many different court locations throughout the state of Virginia.

About Chesterfield General District Court

Chesterfield General District Court is able to handle certain types of trial cases. Like all other general district courts in the state, it is allowed to conduct hearings and trials for cases that involve traffic offenses, misdemeanor criminal offenses and civil claims. General district courts are given jurisdiction over civil cases with claims as high as $25,000, according to the state's website for its court system. The Chesterfield General District Court represents the 12th Judicial District of Virginia, which is one of the state's 32 judicial districts.

Because this court has limited jurisdiction for trial cases, it does not conduct trials for felony cases, nor does it handle most juvenile crimes or domestic relations legal matters. The court is located at 9500 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832-0144.
